The challenges we face
Better Globe works with social entrepreneurship and focuses on three of the major problem areas we see today. The first is the annual global net loss of forest, which represents twice the size of Ireland’s land area. Africa accounts for 56% of the net loss, while 39% of the net loss is in South America, and only 5% is in the rest of the world. Forests are felled worldwide, so this highly skewed distribution depends on how the logging is done and what interests are involved.
The second major problem area that we focus on is extreme poverty. More than three billion people live on less than $2 per day. This represents almost half the world’s population. More than one billion people live on less than $ 1 per day, and this group includes about 80% of Africa’s farmers.
The third major and obvious problem area that we see today is the lack of education. Ten million children in Africa live on the street today, and only a handful go to school. An equally large number of children live with their parents but do not attend school because they are needed to work. Education is fundamental to the problem of relieving poverty, which will be solved when young people have the necessary training and skills.
Development in all countries is dependent on educating the children. It is the young people who will go on to develop the country and it is them we must invest in if we are truly serious about creating change.
Climate change and desertification

Sixty-five percent of Africa’s population is negatively affected by the desertification, which at present spreads out several hundred meters each year. We combat this by planting our trees in semidesert areas and other places that are hit hard by erosion and drought.
We want to make it possible for people who live in these areas to be able to stay at their homes instead of fleeing into the cities and leaving the countryside to its fate. By planting trees, creating jobs, and contributing with water, we make this possible. Read more » |
Extreme poverty

About 80% of African peasants live on less than $1 per day, and they have little possibility of getting out of this situation on their own.
A job with wages is an unattainable dream for most of them, but we are establishing ourselves in their vicinity so that their dream can come true. |
Lack of knowledge and education

We know that where poverty exists, we also find corruption and vice versa. These two problems and many others in the world are caused by a lack of knowledge and a lac of education..
A country cannot evolve unless you educate its people, and we have a strong commitment to this goal. |
We always build schools close to our plantations to support the local communities. Their children can benefit from these schools and receive an education, which has been more or less nonexistent in these areas for generations.
