100 trees yearly by Anne

I have always been careful to save money and have some mutual funds and stocks to fall back on. I have really tried to get interested in this and be a little more active with my investments, but you cannot—I simply do not get anything out of it. With some regularity, I get a little dividend, and I usually get back money on taxes and know where I want to do something with this money. Do something for real and not just put them back into savings that actually does not add anything special.

When I found Better Globe, I decided immediately that this is it. This is really a way to invest my money, and I feel good too—this inspires me and is actually more useful than just savings. I decided to use the money I can put away for a year and my tax refund and my dividends, etc., so that each year I can make sure I have 100 trees planted. I will reinvest all the return that comes back from the trees I have purchased.

I buy trees for 100 euros a month, and I know that I may return for the soul every day. I’m starting to realize now that there will be a lot of trees left after me that my children will inherit, so I will continue to do buy as long as I live.

This is how it looks like for Anne

Year 0: Anne has a total cost of 100 trees 15 euros per piece € -1 500.00
Year 1 – 4: The 100 trees, that Anne owns, are planted: € 0.00
Year 5 – 19: 15% of 100 trees multiplied by 15 euros for 15 years (i.e., 100 x 15 years x 15 € x 15%). It gives an annual yield of 225 €euros per year for 15 years. This totals to € +3 375.00
Year 20: The 100 trees are harvested and sold. Anne will now have an expected return of 10 times the purchase price of € 15 per tree. € +15 000.00
Total expected return over 20 years: € 16 875.00

The return that Anne can expect is as follows:

  • The first 5 years she will not receive a return.
  • From year 5 to year 20, her expected return from 100 trees is about 225 euros per year. That means that after approximately 11 years, the dividend exceeds the amount invested.
  • In year 20, her expected return is 15 000 euros.
  • That is to say, her expected profit, after deducting the 1 500 euors she spent for the trees, will be 16 875 euros.
